The nRF5x Series chips are flash-based SoCs, offering a versatile solution for various applications. An outstanding feature of the nRF5x Series, complemented by their software architecture and the S-Series SoftDevices, is the capability for Over-The-Air Device Firmware Upgrades (OTA-DFU) via Bluetooth LE.

The DFU application enables updates for nRF5 devices utilizing Secure or Legacy DFU bootloader starting from nRF5 SDK version 4.3 or above. Firmware updates should be packaged in .zip file format, created with the "nrf util" tool available at https://github.com/NordicSemiconductor/pc-nrfutil.
